Known limitations

This page documents known compatibility issues and platform limitations. We update it as new limitations are identified or resolved.

Desktop Client system requirements

The RiverScript desktop client is available for Windows and macOS:

  • Windows: Windows 10 and later
  • macOS: macOS 13 Ventura and later

Microsoft Edge compatibility

The RiverScript desktop client has known compatibility issues when Microsoft Edge is installed as the default browser on Windows.

Installer flagged as untrusted

When downloading the Windows desktop client installer, Microsoft Edge (and Windows SmartScreen) may flag the file and place it in quarantine, preventing installation. This is a known limitation of the current Windows release.

Workaround: Use a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) to download the installer. Alternatively, in the Edge download warning, click KeepShow moreKeep anyway to allow the download.

Desktop authentication blocked

If Microsoft Edge is set as your default browser, the desktop client may fail to complete the login process entirely. This is caused by Edge intercepting the authentication callback in a way that is incompatible with our login flow.

Workaround: Set a different browser as your default browser before launching the desktop client for the first time. Chrome and Firefox are fully supported.
