RiverScript is an independent application: it does not join the meeting, integrate with Zoom or Teams, control those apps, or send participants a recording notification. RiverScript itself therefore does not tell the host or other participants that you are recording. We strongly recommend checking your educational institution's rules and any applicable recording requirements before you start.

I started recording a lecture on my PC and then left home, so I couldn't stop the recording in time. Will Desktop client record 10 hours of silence after the lecture?

No. Desktop client will record for up to 4 hours and won't keep using disk space after that. This is done specifically to avoid unnecessary costs.

If the lecturer's audio is quiet and hoarse, will it be recorded that way?

Yes. The audio will be recorded the way it actually sounds. RiverScript can't make the original sound better than it is. If you and the other students hear the same quiet or hoarse audio, then the problem is with the lecturer's microphone or recording setup, and it will affect the recording.

Does RiverScript use recorded lectures to train AI?

No. RiverScript does not use recorded lectures to train AI and does not train AI models in general. We use AI models that are already trained for specific tasks. Our policy is that your data belongs only to you. It is never used to train AI models or shared with third-party companies for that purpose.

If I only want an audio recording of a lecture to listen to on my way to work, can I skip transcription?

Yes. Just click Save locally after the recording is finished. If you need a transcript later, you can transcribe the recorded lecture at any time. Recording lectures in RiverScript is free and unlimited.

Get a lecture transcript

Click Detect speakers and choose Text only or Timecodes

RiverScript has useful features such as adding clickable timecodes to a lecture transcript, separating different speakers, and labeling them by name. This is especially useful if you are recording a lecture with several instructors or recording an online panel discussion.

Please note that the Detect Speakers feature is available only to Premium plan users.
